Itinerary

Welcome to Uganda, where your eco tour in Africa begins! Transfer to your lodging where you can relax and take some time to explore the local area. This evening, enjoy an authentic Ugandan meal while getting to know your guide and fellow adventurers!

After a delicious breakfast, begin your drive through lush jungles and scenic plantations to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Take a forest walk with an experienced guide to track rhinos and learn about their daily lives and challenges for survival.

Then continue to breathtaking Murchison Falls National Park where you’ll spend a relaxing night as more adventures await you.

Set out today on an early morning game drive to see the abundant wildlife ─ see the elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, and birds of the savanna, and of course, incredible scenery.

Afterward, take a cruise along the Nile to the base of Murchison Falls looking for wildlife along the river, such as hippos, buffalo, and crocodiles. If you would like to leave the boat and hike to the top of the falls for an incredible experience, your guide will meet you there. Then on to Kibale National Park!

Rise early today and begin your exciting trek to find the chimpanzees! You’ll have a briefing from the rangers so you’ll know what to expect for your journey in search of those incredible chimps. When you find them, you’ll be able to spend time relaxing with them as you watch their habits and everyday life of eating, grooming, playing, and taking care of their young. It promises to be an amazing experience you will always remember!

After lunch, explore around Crater Lake to see the unique birds and monkeys and breathtaking views of the forest and even go hippo spotting at one of the lakes. This evening, relax and enjoy a lakeside dinner sitting around a campfire amidst peaceful scenery and starry African skies.




Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park today as you watch for wildlife along the way. Take a game drive through the park to see elephants, buffalo, antelope, and unique tree-climbing lions! 

This afternoon, enjoy a cruise on the Kazinga Channel, connecting Lakes Edward and George and see lots of hippos and buffalo along the shores ─ the park is known for having the largest concentration of hippos in the world!

Today you’ll be heading through more incredibly beautiful countryside to the volcanoes where the mountain gorillas make their home. Along the way, stop at the Bat Cave near Maramagambo Forest. Then continue traveling through some of Uganda’s most spectacular scenery and lush forests filled with wildlife.

Beyond the wildlife, you have the opportunity to get to know the local people of Ishasha Village. Visit with them in their homes today and learn about their way of life on their farms. You can also learn more about life here on a visit to a local school and orphanage. Also, take a forest walk with the Batwa people to see the forest through their eyes, and discover their life and challenges to maintain their ancient ways and live in harmony with non-Batwa people. Your visit helps to keep their traditions alive.

Time to rise early for your exciting trek to see the mountain gorillas! The park guides will brief you on everything you need to know for a safe and memorable journey to see these remarkable forest residents who make these mountains home. 

Your guides will accompany you through challenging terrain and thick jungle where you will eventually find the magnificent mountain gorillas. It may take a short while or a little longer to find them depending upon where they are! But the time is well worth it and you’ll feel it’s an honor to be so close to them in their natural environment. Treasure the time you have watching these gentle and endangered gorillas as they feed, relax, play, and care for their young.

Enjoy some early morning exploring before setting off to return to Kampala. Along the way, you’ll drive through the spectacular Kigezi Highlands, known as the “Switzerland of Uganda” and stop at the equator in Kayabwe to stand on the imaginary line separating the northern and southern hemispheres. Here you can see the water demonstration of the magnetic fields where water spins in opposite directions on each side of the equator ─ and goes straight down in the middle. There really is an invisible, but very real line!

Enjoy a farewell dinner with your group, reminiscing about your incredible experiences in Uganda!

Somehow the days have passed, and it’s time to say goodbye. Take with you the incredible images of the people, the wildlife, and the national parks of Uganda and those rare face-to-face encounters with mountain gorillas and chimpanzees.
