Itinerary

Welcome to the capital of Spain! After you land, transfer to your hotel located in the center of the city.  Spend the morning touring the main sights of the city. You’ll see Plaza del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Retiro Park and more. Spend an evening soaking up some of history’s most famous art at the elegant Prado museum.

In the morning, you’ll take a tour of Madrid’s Royal Palace. This palace is packed with beautiful art, furniture and textiles. Learn about the history of the Spanish royal family and their influence on Spanish rule and law.

Continue your education into the Spanish royal family with a tour to the Reina Sofia Museum. Learn about Spain’s influence on history through the impressive collection in this museum.

Today you will visit one of Madrid’s most prestigious law firms. Take a tour of the firm and learn about the various roles and responsibilities within the firm.

In the afternoon, you will have an informational interview session with a panel of lawyers from the firm. Learn about what they do from day to day, their education history, goals, advice and more. Come prepared with lots of questions for this incredible session!

Today you will visit another firm. This will give you the opportunity to see some of the similarities and differences between the two firms.

This afternoon you will have the opportunity to shadow and observe one of the firm’s staff members. This is a great chance to get first-hand experience learning about a legal firm. Be sure to ask many questions and soak up the expertise of your mentor!

Today you will have the pleasure of visiting the grand courthouse of Spain. Begin your day with a private tour where you can see the building, courtrooms, justice chambers and libraries.

After your tour, sit in on court proceedings to watch as a case unfolds in real time. Though the court proceedings will be in Spanish, a translator will brief you on the case before entering the courtroom. Keep notes of vocabulary you may not understand while in the courtroom, and your translation will help you piece together all of the details after court is dismissed.

Our day today will focus on social justice. In the morning, you’ll meet with a social justice advocate, who will inform you about the issues and challenges Spain faces.

Later, you will visit a local non-profit organization. You will learn about the administration of NGOs, the populations they serve, the responsibilities of their staff, and more.

Before heading back home, enjoy a delicious and typical Spanish breakfast of freshly toasted bread, savory jamon, cafe con leche and fresh-squeezed orange juice. We hope you enjoyed your time in Madrid and learned about the past and present of law and justice in Spain!

Begin your trip by learning about the history of Spain’s influence around the world and the history of Spanish law. Become immersed in Spanish culture with tours, cultural events, history lessons and museum visits. You’ll then spend two days touring and networking at two highly-regarded firms in Spain. Spend an unforgettable day at the capitol’s courthouse, where you will see live cases in the courthouse. Top off your trip with a day learning about social justice issues and working at an NGO on your trip to study law in Spain.
