Take a stroll down 5th Avenue’s famous pedestrian walkway, where you’ll find a seemingly endless supply of local restaurants and shops. Running directly parallel to the beach, 5th Avenue attracts thousands of visitors each year and will amaze you with its variety of restaurants and entertainment.

Spend the day getting to know the coastal resort area of Playa del Carmen a little better. Wander through gorgeous palatial resorts and small beachside boutiques. Sample authentic Mexican fare along palm-tree lined streets and take in the vibrant colors and breathtaking scenery for which the Caribbean is most famous. Be sure to save ample time to discover Playa del Carmen’s underwater beauty as well. Right off the town’s coast lies the Meso-American Barrier Reef, the second longest coral reef in the world and a wonderland for snorkelers and scuba divers alike. Rent some snorkeling gear and take a look for yourself!

Catch a scenic ferry ride to the island of Cozumel, famous for its magnificent coral reefs. Once there, take a short taxi ride to Chankanaab National Park, site of a serene coastal cenote, perfect for those who want to explore the amazing underwater world of Cozumel. Stroll through lush botanical gardens, swim with dolphins or put on your snorkel gear and discover Chankanaab’s eerie underwater sculpture gardens. Spend the rest of your day swimming, kayaking, diving or just relaxing in a beachside lounge chair. It doesn’t get much better than this!

Just a few miles from Playa del Carmen, a secret river runs deep beneath the Earth. Known as Rio Secreto, this underground river is arguably one of the great wonders of the world. Float, wade and swim through the river’s crystal clear waters while admiring the stunning crystal-like stalactites and stalagmites surrounding you. Your day spent experiencing this hidden mystery of the Yucatan is sure to be one of the highlights of your trip.

One of the most famous archaeological sites in the world, Tulum will amaze you with its mystical history and dramatic ocean vistas. Spend the day exploring the majestic ruins of the ancient Mayan city and its nearby rugged coastline, while marveling at sweeping views of the crystal clear Caribbean Sea. Be sure to pack your swimsuit so you can get in the warm water and fully enjoy the pristine stretch of Tulum’s public beach. Take in the never-ending picturesque views, go for a dip and sample some local cuisine before returning to Playa del Carmen for the night.

Experience a day of beachside bliss on the powdery, white sand beaches of The Playacar. This area of Playa del Carmen is is known for its upscale residential villas and all-inclusive resorts, and it’s where you can spend the day sunbathing, kitesurfing, swimming and snorkeling in sparkling turquoise waters.
