Itinerary

CAfter a flight overseas, you’ve finally made it to the Australian capital. Upon your arrival at Sydney Airport, your local guide will meet you. From the airport, you’ll head off to your accommodation in the city where you will spend the next few days. During the ride, your guide will give you a breakdown of the week’s upcoming activities.

On your first full day in the city, you’ll first get a chance to check out the Sydney Olympic Park, an impressive sporting complex situated in the west of Sydney. The complex hosts everything from an aquatic center, sports arena and even has 430 hectares of parkland, so you can spend an active morning here before heading over to Manly Beach for the afternoon.

Sheltered by Norfolk Island pine trees, Manly Beach is an excellent option to relax on a hot summer’s day. In addition, Manly Beach is a top-notch surf spot in the city. So if you have previous experience or are feeling like an adrenaline rush, there are several surf schools on the beach from which to choose.

To kick off the morning, you will meet with the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) for a wake-up call on the current state of Australia’s environmental well-being. ACF is a national environmental organization that aims to protect the environment and advocates against climate destruction and pollution.

In the afternoon, take a re-energizing walk from Bondi to Bronte. The Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk is approximately 2.3 km and takes about an hour and a half to complete. During this walk, you pass some of Sydney’s most iconic beaches and parks, as well as get the chance to take in some spectacular views.

Today you will rise with the sun in order to catch an early morning flight from Sydney to Cairns. The total flight time is around three hours, so upon your arrival to the Cairns Airport, you will have most of the day left to relish. After dropping off your bags, get ready for your first adventure in Northern Australia.

On day four, you will be checking out the Daintree National Park and getting acquainted with the region’s native flora and fauna. During your time at this UNESCO World Heritage Site, a wildlife biologist will be joining to help give you some background information about the plants and animals in the area as you explore.

Grab your swimsuit, because on day five of your Australian adventure you will be hopping on a catamaran en route to the stunning Fitzroy Island. On this full-day trip, you will have the choice to either snorkel or scuba dive the majestic Great Barrier Reef. There is also a national park and great hiking options around the island.

A local marine biologist will be joining you on this full-day excursion to shed some light on the changes the Great Barrier Reef’s ecosystem is currently undergoing, including rising temperatures, pollution and more. Take this opportunity to ask any questions and gain more insight into the effects of climate change in the area.

Wake up early and grab a light breakfast, because this morning you won’t want to eat heavy. That’s because you’ll be taking the leap and join the professional staff at Skydive Cairns for a 15,000-foot tandem skydive. The views and experience will be unparalleled.

Following your jump, you will head to Crater Lakes National Park. This national park has two lakes, Lake Barrine and Lake Eacham, both of which were formed by volcanic eruptions. While you’re here, you can explore the lakes along the walking trails that surround them. After a relaxing afternoon, you’ll head back to Cairns for the evening.

On day seven, it’s time to pack up and head to the Cairns Airport. From Cairns, you will be connecting in Sydney to catch your flight back home or to your next destination. During the journey, take some time to recollect and recall all of the new adventures and information you’ve learned. Although you have concluded this adventure, there are still many more to come.

Australia boasts some of the most diverse marine ecosystems on the planet. However, at this point, many marine habitats and forests are being threatened due to climate change, pollution and industry development. Take the opportunity to get involved in ecotourism adventures to learn more about these issues and how you can add an impact.
