Overseas adventures take flight as you wing your way to the city of Pristina. As you descend, take in views of Kosovo’s mountainous landscape. Welcome to your new home for the next week! A local guide will be waiting at the airport to transfer you to your city hotel.
The afternoon is yours to explore, so take a dip in the rooftop pool, walk through the city’s markets, or take some time to rest and unpack. In the evening, you will meet with your guides for an authentic Kosovan dinner — an excellent chance to bond with your guides and ask them questions!
You will begin your morning riding through beautiful landscapes to the city of Prizren. It’s known for its river, which flows through the center of the old town, as well as the many bridges that span it throughout the city. Wander through the streets and view medieval houses before taking a break for lunch at a local restaurant. Following this, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the city’s old town, castle, bazar, Sinan Pasha Mosque, and archeological museum all while being educated by an engaging guide.
Calling all thrill-seekers and adrenaline junkies! Today was scheduled just for you! You’ll head toward the Berim Cliffs to enter a natural tunnel and take in the views of spectacular mountain scenery and tree-covered lower foothills. With a series of cables and ladders, you will ascend Mt. Gora. Walk along a suspension bridge and single cable with a courageous spirit. You will finally reach the peak of the mountain where you can take a breather and enjoy a well-deserved lunch. Following this, you’ll take a cable car back down the mountain and head back to your hotel.
Today is all about exploring Kosovo’s capital, Pristina. Enjoy a walk through the city center to view and learn about its national library, Mother Teresa Cathedral, Monument of Heroines, and Monument of Brotherhood. After lunch, it’s time to explore the city’s old town. Visit the bazaar, clock tower, Sultan Murat Tomb, Ulpiana Ancient City, and Marble Cave. For the grand finale, you’ll enter Prinstina’s Bear Sanctuary Park to view the variety of bear species native to the country.
To truly appreciate Kosovo’s natural beauty and cultural richness, you will enjoy a mountain trek in the peaks of the Balkans. Hike through virgin trails or beaten paths for an adventure of a lifetime. Along the way, keep a lookout for various plant species, deep and narrow valleys, river gorges, and isolated hamlets. You’ll also likely see much wildlife, monasteries, temples, and spectacular landscapes.
On your final full day, you will tour Valbona Valley National park to, once again, embrace Kosovo’s nature and mountains. A crystal-clear river runs through the valley’s heart as the Albanian Alps surround it. You will visit an area that was mostly isolated for more than 60 years during the communist period. Along your tour, you’ll discover old bunkers and buildings from that period, and hear the storytelling of the past in the region. Enjoy traditional food for lunch and the quietness and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
It’s hard to believe the trip has come to an end. Enjoy a final breakfast with your group and guide, reflecting on your fond memories of the trip. Following this, you’ll leave for the local airport to catch your departing flight home.
Kosovo is known for its violent history and the new dawn of a more peaceful era, as well as its slow-paced mountain life and picturesque towns. In the heart of the Balkans, Europe’s youngest country is a spectacular land full of charming monuments, welcoming smiles, and hiking treks galore.
