Itinerary

Arrive in beautiful Athens and check in to your centrally-located hotel. Enjoy a group dinner with your guide and review your Greek exploration for the next week.

After breakfast, meet your archaeologist field guide at the Stoa of Attalos, a reconstructed building that houses the Agora Museum. Immerse yourself in the fascinating history of the Agora with your guide connecting you to her past.

Tour the Agora with your guide visiting the Church of the Holy Apostles and the Temple of Hephaestus. As your guide brings the columns, stones, and partial buildings to life, you can almost see the ancient Greek market blending in with modern shoppers.

Dine at the Athens revolving restaurant in the sky. Enjoy a multi-course meal suspended 165 feet above the city for amazing views and a meal to remember.

Meet your boat captain at the dock for a day of fun in the sun. On board, your certified snorkeling instructor will guide you on equipment use and snorkeling safety. Visit multiple locations to view exotic fish, barnacle-crusted sunken ships, and colorful living reefs as you float in the bright blue Aegean Sea. 

Enjoy a fresh-caught dinner on the boat as you watch the spectacular sunset.

Return to the Agora this morning to meet up with your Archeological Field Guide. Your guide will take you on a “back door” tour of an ongoing archeological dig at the Agora. Experience an up-close look at how a dig operates. 

Enjoy lunch with the archaeologists currently participating in the dig. Their stories will fascinate and amaze you.

This afternoon, you can participate in a mock dig site where you can practice the archeological dig skills you observed.

An early train ride through the Peloponnesian countryside to the town of Kalambaka where you’ll see Meteora Monasteries, a UNESCO World Heritage Site perched high on the cliffs. The 14th-century monastery was a private retreat for the monks who practice there. High upon towers of sandstone, the monastery provides exquisite views. 

In the afternoon, stroll the quaint town of Kalambaka and have an early dinner before heading back to Athens.

Your journey through the Greek countryside will bring to your an olive farm. Enjoy an olive oil tasting workshop, experiencing one of Greece’s most valuable exports. Learn the difference between the various grades of olive oil. And partake in a typical farm lunch surrounded by the olive groves.

This afternoon you are free to enjoy all that Athens has to offer.

Sadly it is time to depart this wonderfully vibrant, ancient city.
