Itinerary

Travel abroad to Greece for a trip filled with mythological adventures and fly into the ancient city of Athens. Find your hotel, get settled in and relax for a bit. Enjoy the scenery from your hotel window and adventure out to experience the nightlife of the city. Catch up on some sleep and get ready to learn all about Greek mythology.

Start your adventure through ancient Greek history by taking a tour through Athens and learn about Greek heroes and gods. Meet with your guide, who will share stories with you of Greek society and architecture as you stroll through temples, statues, historic graves, and ruins. Visit the Parthenon, set your eyes on the temples dedicated to Hephaestus and Zeus, and the Sanctuary of Asklepios. Afterward, find a place to relax for lunch before spending the afternoon at the Acropolis Museum. Learn of ancient Greek wars, the people, and how the city has evolved into what it is today. For dinner, find a local restaurant and try a traditional dish before turning in for the night.

Wake up a little earlier today to meet with your guide at the port to go on a day cruise and island-hopping tour. Make sure to eat some breakfast at your hotel due to the long day ahead of you. Start sailing towards the island of Poros where you will have time to shop and stroll the streets. Then visit the island of Hydra where you will get to experience unique architecture and landscapes. While you are strolling through the city you will see stone houses and mansions that have stood throughout most of recorded history. Afterward, enjoy a barbecue for lunch on board the boat before stopping at the island of Aegina, which was once depopulated due to Hera sending a plague. The story then states that the king of the island, Aeacus asked Zeus for help who then transformed all the ants on the island into humans to repopulate the island. On Aegina, you will get to visit the temple of Aphaia and walk around the town. Once back in Athens for the night, find a local restaurant and enjoy a delicious meal.

Begin the day by taking a flight to Heraklion on the island of Crete where ancient Greeks believed Zeus was born and spent the early years of his life. Travel through mountain villages in a Land Rover up into Dikti mountain range. While traveling off-road, you will get to stop for pictures as well as coffee and tea before getting to the Lassithi Plateau. Soak up the scenery as you arrive at the second highest mountain on the island, Mount Spathi, where you will visit Psychro Cave which is believed to be where Zeus was born. Explore the inside of the cave before enjoying a Cretan meze lunch with wine. After lunch, you will begin to descend the mountain and start seeing the spectacular views of the north coast. Once you’re back in Heraklion enjoy the nightlife and food of the city.

Before taking a short flight to the island of Corfu, visit the Heraklion Archaeological Museum and learn from a guide about the ancient people and civilizations of the island. After some lunch, catch a flight to Corfu where Poseidon took Korkyra after they fell in love. Crete is also home to Achilleion Palace which was named after Achilles, a strong warrior who had an important role in the Trojan War, but a tragic flaw. Once you have found your hotel and gotten settled in, visit the Theotoky Estate and take a winery tour.  The estate has more than 300 acres and is full of vineyards and olive groves. After the tour, you will get to taste delicious organic wines. For the night, find a local restaurant and visit some of the bars in the area.

For your last full day, grab your camera and meet with a guide and take a tour through the old town near the shore and visit the Achilleion palace. While on a walking tour you will get to see graceful mansions, countrysides, Venetian architecture, and the nearby Mouse Island. Your last stop along the tour will be the Achillion Museum and Palace. Here you will get to see classic mythological Greek sculptures sweeping gardens, and spectacular views. Afterward, spend the rest of the day relaxing at the nearby beaches and soak up the sun until after sunset.

Pack your bags and make your way to the airport for a flight home.
