The mountains of Sweden will take your breath away! Your driver will greet you at the airport and transport you to the dog-sledding ranch in Lapland.
As soon as you arrive at the ranch, hike out to meet the dogs. They are friendly and love visitors. Spend some time bonding with your assigned Husky team.
After dinner, get a good night’s sleep – you have a busy week ahead.
The order of the day is to learn the basics of dog sledding. Practice harnessing your team, which takes a deft hand since the dogs are excited about taking a run.
Safely mushing a sled is key to enjoying your dog sledding adventure. Today you will take short runs around the ranch, perfecting your commands and techniques. The dogs are experienced and will help you along the journey.
Enjoy a hearty dinner, made with fresh, local ingredients. Make sure to don your head lantern, necessary equipment to light your way in the night.
After dinner, relax around a bonfire and gaze on the beautiful Northern Lights.
You are off to harness your team right after breakfast.
Today you will make an easy excursion down to the valley. The trails are well marked and wide. As you maneuver your team and sled, you feel small surrounded by these majestic mountains.
At dinner tonight, compare tips and tricks with your fellow mushers. You learned a lot today, and are excited to venture out tomorrow.
You hitch up your team quickly today. Your kits are packed, the dogs are barking, and you are ready to go. Your journey today will take you through fairytale forests that open to blinding sunlit snowy vistas. Hone your skill as you navigate narrow pathways between stands of trees.
After dinner tonight, planning begins for tomorrow’s overnight expedition.
This morning there is lots of packing. You hitch up your team and mentally review your packing list. There are several additional guides and sleds to carry the kitchen supplies and extra food for your overnight adventure. You will tour through the northern Swedish mountain range through the National Parks Padjelanta, Sarek and Kebnekaise.
Cross mountains, frozen lakes, and rivers as you breathe the crisp, cold mountain air. Relish in the adrenalin rush of commanding your mush team up a steep incline. Relax with your team and take in the incredible views, the spoils of your efforts.
After a sumptuous meal, set up camp for the night. Drift off to sleep with the gentle snoring of your tent mates – your mush team.
Harness your team for your final journey back to base camp. As you take mental pictures of the snowy white beauty around you, you already know, you will be back.
Enjoy a final dinner at the lodge tonight comparing experiences with your new adventure-seeking friends.
Spend the morning saying thank you and goodbye to your mush team. These pups have been your best companions for the past week and you will miss them.
