Begin your trip to study animal sciences by flying into the city of Cairns, Australia. After finding your hotel and taking some time to relax, spend the rest of the day by volunteering with a beach clean up group. With 5.25 trillion pieces of trash in the ocean, it brings many problems to the creatures of the sea. By beginning your trip with a simple task, it will help keep the oceans clean from debris and is one of the easiest ways to help with wildlife conservation. For the rest of the evening, explore the city and find a restaurant for a fresh seafood dinner.
Wake up and get some breakfast before spending the day at the Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Center where sick and injured marine turtles recover. Spend the day volunteering at the center where professionals will share their knowledge of turtle rescue and research. Help feed turtles who can’t feed on their own, take measurements, and help the professionals with their daily routine and checkups. After helping injured turtles, head down to the beach and soak up some sun while watching the sunset.
Start the morning early with a flight down the coast to Brisbane and drive to the famous Australia Zoo. A day trip to this zoo will offer many possibilities to help out animals in need. Volunteer at the wildlife hospital and help all sorts of wildlife get back on their feet. Watch and learn from the vets as they work on animals and learn all about how the Australia Zoo help save animals in the wild. Before you head home, make sure you explore the zoo and watch a show in the Crocoseum.
Today you will visit the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and spend the day working with an animal keeper. You will get to learn and observe the daily tasks an animal keeper goes through each day as well as get up close and personal with animals like koalas, platypus, and dingos. Snuggle up with a baby koala as you make an impact for the animals at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. For the rest of the afternoon, find a cozy coffee shop and explore the city.
Begin the day with an early flight down to Sydney, where you will spend the day at the Australian Reptile Park. Start the day with a behind the scenes tour of the park and feed reptiles, meet kangaroos, and watch a funnel web spider milking in their venom room. Explore the Tasmanian devil breeding facility and stop by the conservation station to learn how you can help wildlife and the environment. End your day with exploring Sydney and make sure to visit the Sydney Opera House before finding a local restaurant for dinner.
Start your last day in Australia with a delicious breakfast before making your way down to the Sleepy Burrows Wombat Sanctuary. Here you will be able to help orphaned and injured wombats. Hold and feed wombats and help the staff with daily routines while learning about the threats these cute creatures face in the wild. For the afternoon go out on a whale watching tour to end your trip with a splash.
Before heading to the airport, think back to all the good things you did during the week and remember the ways you can help the conservation of wildlife. Make your way to the airport and head home after a well-spent trip.
Australia is the perfect place to study animal sciences due to the vast variety of wildlife. Work with real-life professionals who spend their days taking care of and saving wildlife in Australia.
