Itinerary

Your humanitarian educational student trip to Rio de Janeiro begins with a tour of the city, including sights such as Corcovado Mountain, Christ the Redeemer and the beautiful Ipanema Beach. After a delicious dinner, your group will be able to enjoy the nightlife Rio de Janeiro has to offer.

It’s time to roll up your sleeves and get to work! Project Favela is an NGO dedicated to helping place volunteers in impoverished slums, which are known as favelas in Portuguese. Project Favela operates a small school in collaboration with international volunteers that provides free educational programs to the children of the community. Many children are hungry for a better future, and NGOs like Project Favela are here to provide those opportunities. The children who have enrolled receive education and mentoring, and learn the value of dedication and commitment in the classroom.

Spend your days in the favela, providing children with the chance of an education that will allow them to have better opportunities to escape poverty. This NGO is located in Tabajaras, in the heart of Copacabana, and is one of five favelas located in Copacabana. Tabajaras is made up of 3 different communities, and has around 10,000 to 12,000 residents. The name pays tribute to the local indigenous tribe that once lived in the area.

After a rewarding day helping the children of Tabajaras, your group can walk the beaches, explore the city and enjoy the nightlife of Rio de Janeiro.

On the final day of your trip, your group will be able to walk the city to do some last-minute shopping and exploring before leaving for the airport, while reflecting on the experiences of helping the children of the Brazilian favelas.

After this humanitarian educational trip to one of Rio de Janeiro’s favelas, your group will leave with a great sense of gratitude, admiration for the resilience of people, and a desire to return. Join us for this humanitarian trip abroad helping one of the most vulnerable groups in Brazil.
