Educational Student Tour to Maui

ADD AN IMPACT!
Given its geography and location, Hawaii will have less time to prepare for the devastating impacts of global warming relative to other places. Add an impact to your trip by using public transportation, avoiding the consumption of red meat, and saying no to plastic straws.

Itinerary

Your educational student tour has begun as you travel to Maui, Hawaii. As your plane descends, take a look out of your window to see expansive jungles, waterfalls, and crystal-clear waters. A local guide will be waiting to transfer you to your all-inclusive beachfront resort.

The afternoon is yours to explore your environment. Look for wildlife on a nature path, swim in the ocean, or get a massage at the resort spa. In the evening, you’ll meet with your guide for a traditional Hawaiian dinner, which offers a great opportunity to get to know your guides and ask questions about your upcoming adventures!

After a well-rested night, it’s time to experience Hawaii’s spectacular Pacific ocean. Start the day learning how to surf the waves from an instructor. You’ll also learn how to time the waves. Can you manage to stand up on the surfboard fully? That’s the goal! Next, make your way to Makena Bay to kayak over coral reefs abundant with exotic fish and turtles. If you’re lucky, you’ll also spot humpback whales or dolphins splashing offshore. Finally, grab your snorkel gear and jump into the water for an up-close encounter with Hawaii’s marine life.

A professional marine scientist and oceanographer will accompany you throughout the trip to learn about the marine life you encounter, as well as their interactions with the environment. Be sure to ask lots of questions to learn return home with better knowledge of the work that marine and ocean scientists do.

Take a break from the sea to experience Hawaii from the sky. That’s right; today you’re going zip-lining! Make your way to Camp Maui to harness up and soar like a bird from treetop to treetop. The highest zip-line reaches 70 feet and is 900 feet long. Work up the courage to try this adventure. Your guides will show you how to pass aerial transfer points and a suspension bridge. From the heights, be sure to absorb breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and Maui’s shoreline. Following this, enjoy a well-deserved late lunch at a local restaurant before heading back to your resort for free time.

It’s time to learn more about the Pacific Ocean and its marine life at the Maui Ocean Center. Explore over 70 interactive exhibits. All of the marine life you encounter at this center is native to the islands of Hawaii. Attend presentations by trained ocean naturalists at the Discovery Pool, Nursery Bay, Turtle Lagoon, and Open Ocean exhibits. The guides will be happy to answer any questions you have about coral, the ocean, or marine life. You’ll spot reef fish, eels, stingrays, jellyfish, and sharks on this exciting excursion.

Calling all adrenaline junkies, today was planned especially for you. Make your way to the rappelling site of Hana where you’ll gear up. Take a short hike to your first cliff. Rappel down the 100-foot jungle cliff with the demonstration and assistance of guides. Now that you’ve got the hang of this, you’ll make your way to a 50-foot waterfall. Rappel down into a small pond and swim across it. Finally, you’ll arrive at a more difficult 30-foot waterfall to rappel down. Following this, take time to swim in the waterfall pools, explore the surrounding rainforest, and indulge in a picnic lunch.

It’s your final day in Hawaii, so you’ll want to make it extra memorable. Board your private luxury yacht for a ride along Maui’s coastline. Absorb the breath-taking views with a glass of champagne in hand. Finally, you will arrive at La Peruse Bay to spot a pod of wild dolphins. Marvel at their brilliance as they catch waves along with your yacht. Next, it’s time to jump in from the top deck and snorkel the spectacular mid-ocean reef. You’ll likely encounter stingrays, starfish, sea horse, and a variety of exotic fishes. Climb back onto the yacht to cruise to a sea turtle habitat. A knowledgeable naturalist will educate you on these creatures before you dive in with them. Enjoy the sun setting on the horizon as you cruise back to your resort.

It has been both an adventurous and educational week. We hope you had lots of fun, but it’s now time to leave. Enjoy a final breakfast with your group and guides before departing for your flight home.

From its rainforests to coral reefs to volcanoes, Hawaii is an adventurer’s dream. The paradise has been attracting tourists for decades and for good reason. With wildlife, nature, and lively people at every turn, it offers an unforgettable vacation.
