Itinerary

Welcome to Reyjavik! Upon arrival in this incredible city, your group will check into your accommodation for the night and explore downtown Reykjavik.

For dinner, gather at a local restaurant for authentic cuisine and to meet your guide for the duration of your trip.

Rise early in the morning to meet with a professor from Reykjavik University in collaboration with the Icelandic Meteorological Office for an educational experience unlike any other.

After, your group will head to the renowned Hallgrimskirkja Cathedral for a guided tour. Enjoy a quick lunch together before embarking on a journey aboard the Ocean Diamond ship.

After a restful night swaying with the ocean waves, you’ll disembark at your first stop — the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Your group will spend the day exploring the national park here, Snaefellsjokull, and adventuring to the Breidafjordur Bay (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) by zodiacs.

After an exciting day riding the waves of the Arctic Ocean, seeing marine wildlife and exploring a polar national park, your group will head back to the ship to begin your journey to the next stop: Isafjordur!

Today, your group will sail to the town of Isafjordur, a beautiful and quiet town. Here you will have the opportunity to add on experiences to go sea fishing, see puffins on the island of Vigur, or visit Dynjandi waterfall.

Iceland is a nation of spectacular natural beauty. No matter what you choose, you won’t be wrong. At the end of the day, hop back onboard the ship to begin your journey to the next destination!

Disembark in the beautiful town of Siglufjordur today and explore the Herring Era Museum — Iceland‘s largest maritime museum and the only Icelandic museum that  has won the European Museum Award.

After, your group will explore Trollaskagi Peninsula for spectacular views of mountain peaks, and an afternoon viewing of bird species at Grimsey Island.

Today, your ship docks in Iceland’s second largest city, Akureyri! Your group will travel to Lake Myvatn Nature Reserve with the option to trek to Askja — the city’s resident volcano.

Hop back aboard the ship just in time for departure and a group dinner. Tomorrow, you have an early morning!

Disembark early in the morning today for a whale watching excursion in Skjalfandi Bay. Be sure to bring your waterproof camera and rain jacket for this one!

For any free time remaining prior to the ship’s departure, take a moment to explore the town of Husavik, speak to the people, find a local guide, or take part in an impact project.

Today, when you disembark the ship you’ll have arrived to Iceland’s East Fjords. Your group will spend the day exploring the fishing village of Seydisfjordur with options to add on activities like seal spotting, horseback riding or kayaking!

A thrilling day awaits for your group in the fishing village of Djupivorgur! Spend the morning exploring Vatnajokull Glacier, the largest and most voluminous ice cap in Iceland covering about 8% of the country!

In the afternoon, enjoy a group lunch before venturing to a lagoon that features icebergs. You won’t want to miss this incredible site!

Today, your ship will dock in the Westman Islands. To begin the day’s journey, you’ll go ashore the only inhabited island, Heimaey!

After, your group will explore caves, circumnavigate small islands, and be presented with the exciting optional activity of playing golf in a volcano crater.

After 10 incredible days aboard the Ocean Diamond circumnavigating Iceland, exploring caves, volcanoes, marine wildlife, glaciers and more, we hope you have a wonderful time learning about climate change and the politics surrounding this international environmental issue.

Before beginning your departure home, if you have some free time please explore the amazing city of Reykjavik!

Explore the Arctic Ocean by cruise ship as it circumnavigates Iceland during your summer vacation.
