1 of 1Itinerary
Meet in Las Vegas to begin your adventure in volunteer work with animals. You’ll meet your fellow animal lovers and guide and head north to Utah, staying your first night near the scenic canyons of Zion National Park.
You’ll explore the Park’s massive sandstone cliffs, sparkling waterfalls, and canyons and absorb the rich history of what life here looked like millions of years ago and the silence and beauty of canyon country.
Exploring more of this magnificent National Park awaits you this morning. If you’re a photographer, you will find brilliant landscapes, striking contrasts of color and texture, and stunning panoramas.
You’ll then be heading to Kanab and beautiful Angel Canyon where thousands of animals in need have found a new life and safe haven for healing with the help of kind and compassionate people like you. Best Friends is the nation’s largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals and has been the leader in changing the philosophy of shelters everywhere to stop killing and step up their efforts to find homes for healthy animals.
Start to get to know the sanctuary today with a tour of the grounds and animal areas. Tomorrow your volunteering begins, but today, enjoy the incredible calming serenity around you in this place that provides so much good for so many animals.
Today you’ll begin volunteering to give the animals the personal attention and hands-on care and love they need. Be as involved as you wish; be active or laid-back. Choose an area you would like to help in ─ Dog Town, Cat World, Horse Haven, Marshall’s Piggy Paradise, Bunny House, Parrot Garden, or Wild Friends. Choose things to do, such as feeding, cleaning, walking, socializing, grooming, and playing ─ all kinds of things!
Choose whatever you would like to do, and the incredible staff of Best Friends will help you do it! Spectacular views go along with your work here!
Enjoy the sanctuary again today ─ choose to volunteer in the same area, even with the same animal if you have a favorite! Your help is always appreciated.
You can also experience some other aspects of the sanctuary. Perhaps you would like to learn more about the animals by attending a live demonstration, such as a demo of Parelli Natural Horsemanship! You can also enjoy the many onsite hiking trails among the majestic red rocks, the tranquil amphitheater of Angel’s Landing, or perhaps a meditative walk through Angel’s Rest.
Today is your last day at the sanctuary. Your work has meant so much to the animals and the staff. Spend time with animals in a different area or hang out with your new buddy. Return to your favorite spots of peace and serenity; take lasting photos with your camera and your mind’s eye of all your new friends, human, furred, and feathered, and those majestic views that will remain with you.
We’ll end the day with some final exploration around Kanab ─ explore the Moqui Cave Museum with its Native American artifacts and dinosaur tracks from days long ago, and feel connected with the earth as you gaze at the stars at Coral Pink Sand Dunes.
Today you head back to Las Vegas by way of Bryce Canyon National Park, where you will find a vast array of surreal formations that create shapes of castles and temples, spires and fins, pillars and amphitheaters.
Returning to Las Vegas is quite a contrast to the peace and tranquility of Angel’s Canyon and Zion and Bryce National Parks. Explore as you wish and enjoy a farewell dinner reminiscing with your group.
Today is your flight home. Saying goodbye to the animals of Best Friends and the serenity of Angel Canyon is never easy. Their sweet animal faces and stories are now part of you and will always be with you. Cherish your memories and the new friends you met along the way ─ and of course, continue to support Best Friends!
Share an adventure in volunteer work with the animals at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. Explore the dramatic scenery of Zion and Bryce National Parks and the serenity and magic of the sanctuary’s home in Angel Canyon. Your new buddies await you in Dog Town, Cat World, Horse Haven, Marshall’s Piggy Paradise, Bunny House, Parrot Garden, or Wild Friends!
