Itinerary

After arriving in Ushuaia after a long day of travel, enjoy the evening getting settled into your accommodation and indulging your taste buds in a delicious Argentinian meal. Rest up for an exciting extra few days in the amazing country, Argentina!

After arriving in Ushiaia you will begin your adventure navigating the Beagle Channel – a strait separating the main island of Tierra de Fuego from various other small islands that are scattered between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. This region has come to be the starting point of modern-day explorers venturing to Antarctica.

The tundra ecosystem of the Beagle Channel is home to sea lions. seals, penguins and occasionally minke whales or Peale’s dolphins. Many sea birds can also be spotted on tours of the channel including the majestic albatross.

Hop into a well heated land rover as you cruise through Tierra del Fuego National Park in search of forests, waterfalls, mountains and glaciers. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to gain a well rounded understanding of the fuegian ecosystem as you explore Lapataia Bay, Roca Lake and Ensenada Bay to name a few.

In the afternoon you will reach Harberton Ranch where you will take a zodiaz to the Maritllo Island in the middle of the Beagle Channel– home to a colony of Magellanic and Gentoo penguins. These amazing animals gather each year from November to March in this exact spot!

Expect an early morning departure from Ushuaia for a full day of off-road excursion to Lakes Fagnanao & Escondido. Escondido Lake is located at the foot of the Garibaldi mountain pass and is surrounded by the Fuegian Andes. As you cross through the Garibaldi Pass at an altitude of 1,476 feet you will have stunning views of the valley below. Lake Fagnano is one of the largest in the world and occupies an active tectonic depression which separates the South American and Scotia Plates. Here your guide will give you a glimpse into the past as you learn about local history and how the lake’s residents survive in such a brutal climate.

Spend your final morning in Ushuaia exploring the beautiful coastlines before transferring to El Calafate.

A trip to Ushuaia wouldn’t be complete without a visit to some of the native glaciers. Often called a natural wonder of the world, the glacier of Perito Moreno is definitely a site to be seen. Here you will have the opportunity to view the South wall of the glacier and explore the icy wonderland on foot.

Get your sea legs– or should we say lake lags ready for an afternoon of catamaran excursions on Lake Argentino. Here you will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to float among icebergs with views of nearby glaciers.

Today is your final morning in Argentina! Time to take in one last breathtaking breakfast with a view before your departure home and onward journey.

Journey to the end of the world!

You can expect any trip to southern Argentina to be packed full of outdoor adventure. Ushuaia is located on the Tierra del Fuego archipelago, the southernmost tip of South America, nicknamed the “End of the World.” The windswept town, perched on a steep hill, is surrounded by the Martial Mountains and the Beagle Channel. It’s the gateway to Antarctica cruises and tours to nearby Isla Yécapasela, known as “Penguin Island” for its penguin colonies. Pack your penguin suit!
