Detailed Itinerary

Upon arrival in Amsterdam, your group will transfer to your hotel and meet your local guides. After checking in to your accommodations, hop on a bus and enjoy a guided tour of the city of Amsterdam, a great overview of this river centric city.

Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and indulge your taste buds in Amsterdam’s authentic cuisine before taking a walk along the canal.

Your first day in Amsterdam will be centered around Anne Frank. Begin your day with a stop at the Hollandse Schouwburg, the Jewish theater where thousands of Jews were sent to the concentration camps. Walk through the Jewish Quarter, visit the Jewish Historical Museum, the Holocaust Memorial Walk and the Memorial of Auschwitz.

Stop for lunch at a cafe before heading to Anne Frank’s house. There you can explore her home where she wrote her diaries and hid during WWII. You will participate in a Discrimination and Equal Rights Workshop and have time to explore the onsite museum.

Discover what life was like for Anne and other Jews during the occupation of the Netherlands by the Germans. Learn about her famous diary, the February Strike and Dutch Hunger Winter.

Van Gogh’s masterpieces have influenced painters for centuries. Your guide will lead you through the museum spending time at masterpieces like “Sunflowers” and explain some of his lesser known, but important works.

This afternoon take a bike tour around the city. Your guide will take you through Amsterdam districts where you will have a close up view of the history and heritage of the city. Visit Chinatown, Jordaan and Nieuwmarkt. Enjoy an afternoon picnic as you peddle around this bike friendly city like a local.

Tonight you will ride in an overnight train to Krakow. Go to sleep with the stars twinkling in your train birth as you are rocked gently by the train running down the tracks.

When you arrive in Krakow, you will check into your hotel to freshen up, drop off your luggage and meet your new local guide.

Your guide will transport you to Auschwitz-Birkenau, the UNESCO concentration and extermination camp. The camp is a complex of over 40 Nazi camps. Explore the Museum, visit the watch towers, listen to the rich history as your guide walks you around the camp.

In Krakow, experience a tour of Oskar Schindler’s Factory Museum. Here you will explore his enamel factory that allowed him to save hundreds of Jews from being sent to the camps.

This morning your tour guide will transport you to Wieliczka Salt Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk the 700 year old underground city with a labyrinth of tunnels, underground lakes and chapels. Marvel at the subterranean architecture and life below ground.

Krakow is yours to explore this afternoon. Visit the Jewish Quarter, tour a historic beer hall, take a walking tour of the city or a culinary discovery tour.

Spend the morning walking the streets of Krakow, reflecting the history and emotional reckoning this city represents before heading home. Do widzenia polska!
