Itinerary

Your adventure has begun on your global travel to study political science in Beijing. As your plane descends, look out your window to see mountainous and forest terrain. A local guide will be waiting to greet you at the airport and transfer you to a local hotel. 

The afternoon is yours to explore. Take a dip in the hotel infinity pool, walk along the city streets, or discover a nearby nature path. In the evening, you’ll meet with your group and guides for authentic Chinese cuisine. This is an excellent opportunity to ask questions about your upcoming schedule! 

Today, you will travel back in time to learn about the political figure of Mao Zedong. Visit Memorial Hall of Mao Zedong, which is his final resting place. Tour Tiananmen Square and Monument to the People’s Heroes to learn about his reign. Zedong was a revolutionary communist who ruled as Chairman of the Communist Party of China until his death in the 1970s. His military strategies, political policies, and military strategies are known as Maoism. While Zedong may no longer be alive, his influence on China’s politics continues to this day. Keep him in mind as you explore more of China this week. Think critically about how he has impacted the Chinese way of life. 

Today, you will visit one of the world’s most popular attractions, and one that is visible from outer space, the Great Wall of China. Stroll along this wall for as far as you desire, admiring the mountain and forest scenery and climbing watchtowers as you go. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before arriving at Beijing Zoo to visit its Panda House. See if you can spot all five newborn babies! Spend the rest of the day exploring the zoo before heading back to your hotel. Tonight, you will take a bullet train to stay in Shanghai. 

You’ll spend today sightseeing the rare and spectacular water town of Zhujiajiao. Walk over old bridges, dip your feet into bubbling streams, and admire the antiquated architecture. Wander around the canal, old lanes, and houses. Next, you’ll enjoy a boat ride down the canal. Relax and soak in the beautiful surrounding area. Make sure to take lots of pictures. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. On your way back to Shanghai, you’ll stop at Yuyan garden. This ancient area has flourished for over 400 years. Meander the nearby fields and take in the views of the city skyline. 

Your tour begins at Hangzhou’s West Lake. Enjoy a cruise while taking in scenic nature views. Eat lunch at a Hangzhou local restaurant before visiting the Faxi Temple. This attraction is famous for its giant, wooden Buddha. Next, you’ll arrive at Longjing village to explore its renowned tea fields. Enjoy a hot cup of complimentary green tea from the locals. 

Head to the airport to catch a flight to Guilin for another adventure tomorrow. 

Traveling to Guilin, you will truly appreciate the awe-inspiring beauty of China on this tour. The scenery at the attraction is called “the most beautiful under heaven.” See the karst mountains towering in the sky with haze in the background for a magical sensation. Search for limestone carvings and stalactite formations along the waterway. Next, you’ll head to Elephant Hill on the Li River. Climb 700 stairs for a birds-eye view of the city. Finish the day at the Reed Flute Cave. You’ll be amazed by its rock formations, stalactites, and stalagmites. 

It’s been an exhilarating and busy week in China, but the time has come to say goodbye. Enjoy one final breakfast with your group and guides. Converse about your favorite memories and what you learned. Next, head to the airport for your departure flight home. 

China has both a dazzling modern face and the world’s oldest continuing civilization.
