Itinerary

It is possible to fly to the Lofoten Islands, but taking the ferry is one of the best ways to experience the striking beauty of the archipelago from Bodø to Moskenes. Watch the mountains rise from the sea as you approach some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. After arriving in Moskenes, you’ll meet your guide at the harbor and take a short bus ride to Reine, where you’ll be staying the night.

After you’ve settled in at the hotel and grabbed something to eat, spend the first day recovering from the ferry ride — it can be a pretty rough voyage — and take some time to explore the small village. Snap some photographs of the traditional cabins and looming mountain peaks, and prepare yourself for an adventure-filled week!

Start today on the tour bus as you head north to the town of Ramberg. You and your group will spend the day by the seaside, enjoying the white sandy beaches of Rambergstranda!

Pack a picnic and enjoy your second day in Lofoten by examining the local flora and fauna while helping the locals maintain the popular tourist destination. Not only will you be spending the day helping the residents keep their home clean and beautiful, but you’ll also get to experience that natural beauty first-hand. Ramberstranda is as picturesque as it gets, and you’ll end the day with a collection of breathtaking photographs.

Enjoy breakfast in Ramberg and then head over to the next island to spend today in Bøstad. You will spend the morning discovering the history and cultural heritage of the Lofoten Islands. Spend the day exploring the Lofotr Viking Museum and experience some unique archeological exhibits, including Viking ships and a reconstruction of the largest Viking house ever discovered. This living museum offers a fun and exciting way to learn about the history of the Lofoten Islands, as well as how that history continues to influence the islands’ present.

After the museum, it’s time to take a boat ride through the unbelievable Steinsfjorden. Watch as the dramatic peaks pass by and try to catch a glimpse of the majestic sea eagle!

Eat an early breakfast and travel to your next destination: Svolvær. Svolvær is the biggest town on the Lofoten Islands, and it offers a wonderful mix of culture and lush natural beauty.

Start your day in Svolvær by heading to the coast for snorkeling and sea kayaking. Immerse yourself in the unique marine life that surrounds the Lofoten Islands. Experience the coastline to the fullest while exploring what lies just underneath the waves. Enjoy the breathtaking natural beauty of the archipelago and develop a deeper understanding of the local environment.

End the day with some arts and culture by exploring the North Norwegian Art Centre to see work by Lofoten photographers and artists. The exhibits feature contemporary artwork influenced by the surrounding beauty of the Lofoten landscape.

Today you’ll wake up early and head south for a day of unbeatable hiking. Board the tour bus and travel a little over an hour to the small town of Stamsund. Once you arrive, your guide will get you settled in at your hotel, and you’ll enjoy an early lunch before heading out to the trailhead.

The trail is called Justadtinden, and it will take a little under 4 hours to complete. Pack plenty of water and some energy-dense food. The path is a gentle 7.5-mile hike to the top of one of the highest peaks of the Vestvågøy mountains. While you’re walking, you and your guide will work together to make sure the path is well-maintained and clean of any trash.

Take a day for recovery and relaxed exploration. Enjoy a long sleep after yesterday’s challenge, have breakfast, and hop on the bus for a quick 15-minute trip to Leknes, your final Lofoten destination. While there, your guide will take you on a tour of the most picturesque beaches and landmarks in the area. Visit the local shops, talk with some of the residents, and get some more beautiful photographs to take back home with you.

Wake up early for a traditional breakfast and spend a couple of hours snapping a few final shots of Leknes. With a deeper understanding of and appreciation for the power and beauty of nature, prepare for your journey back home. Fly from Leknes airport to Bodø and then to connecting flights home.

The Lofoten Islands are a dream destination for any photographer. The stunning natural beauty and secluded location of this archipelago make a trip to Lofoten an overseas adventure unlike any other. Experience the fjords, mountains, and coastlines while marveling at the dramatic scenery and breathtaking beauty. A trip to the Lofoten Islands will leave you with unbelievable photographs as well as a sense of pride that comes with knowing that you gave something back during your visit.
