Itinerary

Arrive at Lisbon International Airport and brace yourself for a week of history, culture, and sunshine! Meet your local guides and get settled into your hotel before wandering the cobblestone streets of Lisboa. Head over to Mercado de Ribeira for lunch to explore the thirty some various food stalls offering some of Lisbon’s tastiest dishes! After lunch, catch the famous Tram 28 and explore Lisbon’s old city and vibrant neighborhoods.

Rise early for breakfast and a day-trip to the spectacular town and UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sintra! Be sure to get your camera ready as you explore the vibrantly-colored mansions, elegant churches, and former grand palaces that make Sintra so unique and frequently visited by tourists. Head over to one of Portugal’s proclaimed “Seven Wonders,” Pena Palace, and explore the out-of-this-world architecture that is both Moorish and Renaissance inspired. You’ll definitely recognize Pena Palace as it’s the most popular attractions in Sintra!

Ready for some more ancient history? Get ready to head over to the Castle of the Moors located on the northernmost peaks of Sintra and check out the incredible views between the peaks from the top of the cliff! Next, get your dose of royalty over at The Palace of Sintra known as the oldest palace in town! Enjoy learning about the history of this palace that hosted royalty from the 1400s up until the 1700s.

Situated further in the mountains of Sintra, end the afternoon over to Park and Palace of Monserrate for yet another beautiful palace of Islamic influence. Monserrate is bound to please with its incredible arches and unique patterns on the stairway and ceilings.

Wake early for breakfast and your early morning departure to the coastal region of Algarve where the day will greet you with sunshine and good vibes. Begin your coastal tour in the town of Lagos where you’ll get to explore the breathtaking scenic beaches, tiny picturesque coves and cliffs and the bustling old town. First up, explore the Portuguese natural wonder of Ponta da Piedade with its glistening water, cliffs and breathtaking viewpoints. 

Head on over to Praia de Camilo right next to Ponta de Piedade and get ready to go down 200 steps to get to the spectacular cove at the bottom of the cliffs! Don’t forget to take in the views of the glittering ocean water and golden sands on the way down. End the evening with a dose of local culture as you explore the old town and enjoy a traditional Portuguese dinner complete with a pastéis de nata or pão de ló.

Take a day trip to the capital city of Algarve and the town boasting the most exquisite Moorish and Jewish history and loaded with sites to explore, Faro! Get lost exploring the walled and medieval inspired Old Town until you come across the Santa Maria Church and marvel at its unusual architecture and views from the top of the bell tower. Jolted by an earthquake in 1755, most of what you’ll find in the city today dates from the 18th and 19th centuries. When you’re done exploring this unique city, unwind at Ilha de Faro and enjoy the white sand beaches, home to windsurfers and kitesurfers alike.

Get ready for a relaxing day off the coastal town of Tavira and take a ferry over to Tavira Island where you’ll enjoy calm turquoise waters, Roman and Moorish history, and the best seafood around! Enjoy a relaxing day on the beach to work on your suntan or get your water sports on through activities like stand-up paddleboarding, kitesurfing, or windsurfing! 

Say your goodbyes to the coast and rise early for your departure to Porto where you’ll get to explore the center named World Heritage Site and wander the medieval malls, unique churches and cathedrals, and the narrow streets of the Ribeira district. Take a walk on the riverside of Cais da Ribeira and get a glimpse of the life of a local while chowing down on some local delicacies.

After one final breakfast and riverside stroll, say your goodbyes to Portugal and head to Porto International Airport for your departure home.
