Itinerary

Today you’ll meet your group in Praiano. Since the hike from Praiano to Positano only takes a few hours, you’ll spend the next few days getting acquainted with the region and learning about the rich history of the Amalfi Coast. Spend the afternoon with a walk down to the water. Visitors can only access the coast on foot, so not only will you find stunning scenery, but you’ll also find quiet corners where it feels as if no soul is around and you have the whole beach to yourself.

This morning your group will visit Paestum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site along the Amalfi Coast. When you arrive, you’ll find the ruins of three temples where ancient Greeks worshipped their gods and goddesses. You’ll spend the morning exploring the ruins before stopping at a local cafe for a quick bite to eat before heading to Ravello for the afternoon.

The group will take a bus from Paestum to Ravello, a charming town perched high on the cliffs above the sea. While in Ravello, the group will visit Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone, both sites of celebrated gardens. At Villa Cimbrone, you’ll take in one of the most exquisite views along the entire coast. The Infinity Terrace is a stunning scenic overlook that offers views that feel like they go on for, well, infinity.

On day three, the group will board a bus and head further north to Pompeii – the site of one of the most catastrophic volcanic events ever recorded. In 79 A.D., neighboring Mt. Vesuvius violently erupted spewing ash and lava down the hillside directly into Pompeii and other surrounding villages. The ash and lava perfectly preserved life in Pompeii in that very moment. Visitors thousands of years later can walk among the ruins in the footsteps of the city’s inhabitants and get a close-up view into their lives.

After a time exploring Pompeii, the group will visit another archeological wonder – Oplontis. This area also experienced the same fate at Pompeii in 79 A.D. The villas in Oplontis have been excavated to show many details of life in that era.

The group will board a ferry today for a two-hour ride from the Amalfi Coast to the resort island of Capri. Spend the day on the island however you like. Take a chair lift to Monte Solaro for an expansive view of the island. Explore the winding alleyways of Capri and many of its famous gardens. In the afternoon, the group will take the ferry back to the mainland for an Italian feast in Sorrento where you’ll spend the night.

You’ll spend the day in Sorrento today, situated on the Bay of Naples. You’ll tour the Cathedral of Sorrento and wander through Old Sorrento for an afternoon spent in its shops, cafes and trattorias. The day will end with a visit to Piazza Tasso, a vibrant hub of Sorrento with vendors, shops, cafes and locals.

Today is the big day. The day you’ve been waiting for since you arrived in Italy. Today, you will join your group for a hike along the Path of the Gods. The hike will start in Praiano. In about two hours, you’ll arrive in a small town of Nocelle. At that point, you’re a stone’s throw from Positano and the end of the hike. You’ll experience breathtaking views on the hiking trail, and be rewarded with a hearty lunch in Positano. You’ll spend the rest of the afternoon in Positano enjoying the village.

After an educational, adventurous, and fun-filled week to study history along the Amalfi Coast, it’s time to head home. Your guide will accompany you back to the airport in time for you to make your departing flight.

The Path of the Gods connects two beautiful villages in one of the most stunning corners of the world – The Amalfi Coast. You’ll spend your days exploring small, picturesque villages and important historical sites before heading out on foot for the hike of a lifetime and one of the most epic adventures in travel you could hope for.
