Itinerary

Your overseas adventure has begun as you travel to Panama City, Panama. As you descend, take a look out of your window to see expansive jungles and crystal-clear waters. A local guide will be waiting to transfer you to your city hotel. 

The afternoon is yours to explore your environment look for wildlife on a nature path, jump into the hotel infinity pool, or get a massage at the hotel spa. In the evening, you’ll meet with your guide for authentic cuisine — a great opportunity to get to know your guides and ask questions about your upcoming adventures!

After a well-rested night, it’s time to explore your new surroundings. Start the day at Casco Viejo, a district built in 1673. Take a guided tour of its main historical sites. Next, you’re off to Miraflores Center to view the famous Panama Canal and learn about its operation and history. Make sure to stop by the site’s observation deck and museum. After lunch at a local restaurant, you’re off to the iconic Bridge of America. Walk across the bridge for a picture perfect opportunity. Finally, stop at Amador Causeway, a former U.S. military base and one of the most spectacular and visited sites in the city.

Calling all animal-lovers, today was planned just for you! Board a boat on Gatun Lake to embark on your journey to the islands of monkeys. With each stop, you will enjoy an up-close and personal encounter with black-body howler, titi, and white-face monkeys. Are you brave enough to let them climb on your shoulders? You’ll likely spot other native wildlife to the area, such as turtles, birds, and lizards. After a picnic lunch, arrive at Soberania National Park to take a nature hike to a waterfall. Cool off this adventurous day with a refreshing swim.

It’s the day you’ve been waiting for; today you’ll get to try your hand at fishing in Panama’s waters. Board a traditional fisherman’s boat where locals will drive you out into the sea where you’ll take a crash course on the techniques and skills of successful fishing before casting your rod. You’ll likely catch a variety of fish, including yellowfin tuna, roosterfish snapper, bluefin trevally, marlin, and wahoo. Enjoy plenty of snacks and drinks on board the boat. The local fishermen will also inform you about their daily routine. All catches will be legal, cleaned, and packaged for you if desired! Take a dip in the water cool off after a successful day.

It’s time to learn more about the people and culture of Panama. Climb aboard your coach bus for a ride into the lush jungle to the Embera Tribe’s base camp. Appreciate the waterfall and bush scenery as you drive. You’ll be greeted with a traditional song and dance before watching a presentation about the tribe’s history, culture, and way of life in the jungle. Explore the village at your leisure, and be sure to talk with the locals. Enjoy a homemade lunch of fried plantains, fish, and fresh fruit. Receive a temporary tattoo as a gift from the tribe before taking a canoe back to Panama City.

Wake up bright and early for your final adventure in Panama City. Enjoy a 2-hour journey to the town of Portobelo, which was built in the 17th century to combat pirate attacks. Walk among cannons that point to the sea and hear stories of the Spanish gold and treasures lost along the coast. Next, board a boat to ride to a nearby private island. After eating a picnic lunch, enjoy the rest of the day swimming in crystal-clear waters, snorkeling for sunken treasure, or suntanning on the beach.

It has been both an adventurous and educational week in Panama. We hope you had lots of fun, but it’s now time to leave. Enjoy a final breakfast with your group and guides before departing for your flight home.
