ADD AN IMPACT!
While Japan is rich in history and tradition, gender inequality is ever-present in the country. Males have nearly two times more access to education and jobs relative to females. Add an impact to your trip by starting a human rights petition or volunteering at an all-girls school.

Itinerary

Your adventure in global travel has begun as you jet off to Tokyo, Japan. As you descend, keep an eye out for the country’s magnificent mountains and bustling cities. This is your new home for the next week! A local guide will wait to meet you at the airport and transfer you to your city hotel.

You have the rest of the afternoon to rest, unpack, and explore. Take a dip in the rooftop pool, check out the games room, or stroll along the city’s streets. In the evening, you will regroup with your guide to enjoy a buffet dinner — a great opportunity to get to know your guide who will be with you throughout your trip.

Begin your morning with breakfast and a Japanese language class. This how you will start all your mornings on the trip. You will begin by learning essential words before learning more complex phrases and sentences. Be sure to apply what you learn to your experiences on this trip!

Following this, you will head into the heart of Tokyo. Visit the city’s tourist hotspots including the renowned Tsukiji Fish Market and Kaminarimon Gate in Asakusa. You’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Can you order in Japanese? Try your best! Finally, you will walk through the city’s stunning imperial gardens and enjoy panoramic views from the top of Tokyo Tower.

Today you will eat, train, and fight like an actual sumo wrestler. Don’t worry; your language teacher will be sure to educate you on the sport’s vocabulary beforehand. You’ll arrive at Chanko Nabe to learn about the history, rules, and training behind this ancient sport before viewing a demonstration. Next, it’s your turn. Gear up and get in the ring with a professional wrestler. We believe in you! After working up an appetite, dig into an authentic Japenese lunch of hotpot, miso, rice, and salad. Eating is how sumo wrestlers bulk for their fights. Enjoy a couple more matches before heading back to the hotel.

After learning the vocabulary of nature and mountains in your language lesson, you will explore Japan’s most famous attraction: Mount Fuji. Travel by bullet train to its bustling station to learn about its history and significance. Jump on a boat to cruise to get closer to the spectacular mountain. Next, you’ll ride on the Mount Komagatake Ropeway to enjoy spectacular panoramic views. Take a break with a picnic lunch before heading back to your hotel.

Today you’ll learn more about Japan’s history as you travel to Nikko Toshogu Shrine, which is a grand mausoleum. View intricate cave carvings. Can you translate them into English? Next, you’re off to Nikko National Park to spot its wild monkeys and fantastic scenery. Enjoy lunch at a local eatery before transferring to Edo Wonderland, a historical theme park. Travel back into the 17th century as you stroll its streets and pass ninjas and samurais. You’ll have the opportunity to watch a traditional Kabuki show in a theatre before heading back to your hotel.

So much of Japan’s culture has to do with its food as you will learn on today’s tour. Start at the Tsukiji Fish Market to gather ingredients. You’ll likely have to request them in the Japanese language. Next, you’ll head to a nearby restaurant for a masterclass in preparing classic sushi. As a group, you’ll create five different types of rolls with the help of numerous chefs. Now’s the fun part! Enjoy a collective lunch eating your prepared meal. Well done, chef!

Time has flown by, and you have reached your final day in Japan. Enjoy an early breakfast with your group and guides to reflect on your favorite moments of the trip, as well as what knowledge you will bring home with you. Following this, you’ll be transported to the local airport to head back to your country.

Japan is truly a timeless country where modern life is combined with ancient traditions as if it were the most natural thing. It’s an ideal vacation location for history buffs and adventurers alike.

On this trip to Japan, you will learn how to speak the country’s language while exploring its most famous attractions. The trip’s highlights include boating to Fuji Mountain, learning how to prepare sushi, and sumo wrestling against professionals. Enjoy global travel to Japan today!
