Itinerary

Your overseas adventure has begun as your plane descends into Santiago, Chile. Take a look out your window to view the breathtaking mountains and lakes. A local guide will be waiting at the airport to transfer you to a city hotel.

The afternoon is yours to explore, take a dip in the pool, head over to the games room, or enjoy a fantastic view on the observation deck. In the evening, you will meet with your group and local guides for dinner at the restaurant, providing you with an excellent opportunity to go over the week’s itinerary and get to know your guides.

It’s time to explore your new surroundings as you tour the city of Santiago. Jump into a luxury coach to arrive at your first destination, La Moneda, Chile’s presidential palace. Marvel at its unique architectural style and vibrant atmosphere. Next, you’re off to Parque Forestal, a beautiful park inspired by the design of Paris’ Champs-Elysees. Soak up the bohemian vibes and colorful street art as you wander the area. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before ascending to the summit of San Cristobal hill. From here, absorb panoramic views of the dramatic Andes Mountain range and dazzling capital city. Finally, arrive at Los Graneros del Alba, to shop its local market for the perfect souvenir.

Today is all about appreciating Chile’s spectacular natural beauty. Make your way to Cajon del Maipo, which is a gorge in central Chile. Enjoy views of the peaceful countryside and mountain during your travel before passing Tinoco Tunnel on a dirt road. Walk down to the enormous gorge and dip your feet in its glacier water. Set up a blanket for a picnic lunch of meat and wine with views. The nearby mountain reserve, El Morado Natural Monument, has numerous trails to explore. Gear up for a one-hour trek through the forests of Chile before wrapping up the excursion.

Now that you’ve experienced Chile’s landscape, it’s time to encounter its spectacular wildlife, as well. Venture into the countryside to arrive at a local alpaca farm. Get an up-close and personal experience with this gentle breed. Next, watch a demonstration of the alpaca wool production process. After lunch at a nearby restaurant, continue to the town of Cachagua to take a boat ride to Penguin Island. With the help of your guide, you’ll spot hundreds of penguins in the water and on the beach. Soak up the natural beauty that surrounds you while relaxing at the seaside resort of Zapallar before heading back to your hotel.

Saddle up for another adventurous day! Start at a Chilean horse ranch, where a breakfast buffet will be waiting for you. Next, choose your favorite horse for a trail ride. You will weave through the patchwork of vineyards, gallop through open plains, and stroll along the Maipo River. Make sure to take lots of photos! Your guide will educate you on Chile’s successful wine industry. When you arrive back at the ranch, refuel with country-style cuisine and — of course — a glass of Chile’s famous red wine.

Buddle up as you ascend into the mountains above Santiago. Your mountaineer-equipped guide will teach you about snowshoeing before your spectacular trek. Next, gear up with snowshoes, poles, gloves, and gaiters. You’re on your way! As you trek, enjoy breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks at approximately 15,000 feet above sea level. Halfway through, stop for a picnic lunch. Once you’ve completed the five-hour trek, celebrate in the town on San Jose del Maipo with empanadas at a local bakery.

You have worked hard this week and seen some magnificent sights. Sadly, it’s time to say goodbye to this beautiful country. Enjoy a final breakfast buffet with your group and guides before departing to a local airport for your flight home.
