Itinerary

Your educational student tour has begun as you travel to New Delhi, India. As your plane descends, take a look out your window to see the country’s vast landscape of bustling cities, mountains, and jungles. A local guide will be waiting at the airport to transfer you to a local hotel.

The afternoon is for you to rest, relax, and explore. Take a dip in the hotel pool, wander the city markets, or rent a bike. In the evening, you’ll meet with your guide for a traditional Indian cuisine dinner of curry and rice. YUM!

There are so many sights to see in New Delhi! Enjoy a guided tour to explore both Old and New Delhi attractions, and see the city’s most popular religious, historical, and (of course!) STEM landmarks. Take pictures in front of the city’s famous golden gates, ride in a rickshaw, and enjoy a buffet lunch. Some of the top attractions you will visit include Old Delhi Market, Red Fort, Lotus Temple Stop, Qutub Minar, and the interactive New Delhi STEM Museum.

Today will begin with a visit to a local Engineering college to interact with its faculty and students, see their facilities, and learn about their successes and challenges in pursuing STEM education. Make sure you exchange contact information to keep in touch with your fellow scientists from across the world! Following lunch at a local restaurant, you will visit a telecommunications company to learn how IT enables millions of Indians to get connected and generate profit. In the evening, enjoy dinner and a show of traditional Indian dance and music.

Get a break from the city life as you travel into India’s rural areas. Get up before the sun rises for the three-hour ride to visit the Taj Mahal, which is an ivory marble mausoleum that houses the tomb of the former emperor, Shah Jahan. Next, you’re off to visit Wildlife SOS for a guided tour. Keep a lookout for wild elephants, tigers, rhinos, macaques, and more! Be sure to take lots of photos and ask questions about what the rangers do to protect these exotic, spectacular creatures.

Today, you will immerse yourself into Indian culture as you visit the nearby community of Lalsot. Firstly, you will teach school children and community members about science and technology. Next, you’ll help build a water harvesting system for their public buildings. What a way to give back, you should be proud! As a reward, enjoy a homemade meal from the locals. In the evening, you will visit engineering workers who manage India’s water, sewage, and electricity. They will show you what their work consists of and the impact it has on the country.

We hope you’re hungry because today is all about food. As you arrive at a local Indian family’s home, you will enjoy an introductory chat about Indian cuisine. Enjoy your drink of choice and a small snack. Next, it’s time to learn how to make traditional Indian dishes. You’ll be assigned a specific recipe and team where a local will guide you through the process of making the food. Once all the food is prepared, it’s time to eat! Enjoy the delicious food and good conversation about culture, tradition, and society. Take time to appreciate how India differs from your home country for your last full day in India.

It has been an incredible week in India, but the time has come for you to say goodbye. Enjoy one final breakfast with your group and guide. Next, it’s off to the local airport to catch your departure flight home.
