Itinerary

Your educational student tour has begun as you travel to Lima. As your plane descends, keep an eye out for Peru’s magnificent greenery and towering mountains, where you will make your new home for the next week! A local guide will wait to meet you at the airport and transfer you to your lodge.

You have the rest of the afternoon to rest, unpack, and explore. Take a dip in the infinity pool, stroll into town, or grab some coffee in the lobby café. In the evening, you will regroup with your guide to enjoy a buffet dinner, providing an excellent opportunity to get to know your guide who will be with you throughout your trip.

What better way to explore the city of Lima than with a food tour? Start at a local roastery to enjoy a steaming cup of Peruvian coffee. The beans were hand-picked this morning! Next, explore this trendy district’s colonial streets to discover musicians and artists. Enjoy a fruit smoothie on the way. Next, visit the city’s most popular attractions: the olive grove park, the country club, and pre-Incan ruins. Finally, stop at a genuine local restaurant for gourmet Peruvian dishes!

Today is an exciting day as you’ll view some of Peru’s most exquisite tapestries and rugs. Make your way to Larcomar, which is a waterfront outdoor mall. Take some time to shop at the most high-end stores in Lima, such as Guess and Michelle Belau. Enjoy lunch at a local eatery before making your way to Miraflores Indian Market, which is the real jewel of textiles in Lima. Browse through spectacular pieces of rugs, clothing, and tapestries made by expert artisans. Take a close look at their intricate work with alpaca wool, gold, silver, and other textiles. Be sure to ask lots of questions about the making of these pieces; it makes the Lima citizens very proud. WIth such a great selection, you’ll be able to find the perfect souvenir to bring home with you.

Today is all about embracing nature and wildlife. Board a luxury yacht at Callao Harbor fully equipped with all the snacks and drinks you would ever need. Enjoy the wind in your hair, and the salty sea smell as you island hop from the El Camotal to the San Lorenzo to the Palomino Islands. Near the Palomino Islands, gear up and jump into the cool Pacific Ocean to swim with sea lions! Dive underwater to get a closer look; they are very playful. You’ll also likely spot pelicans, Inca tern, and Humboldt penguins!

It’s time to learn more about the textiles of Peru. As you enter a nearby small village, you will be welcomed with song and dance by locals. They will bring you into their homes to show off their interior design, including their rugs and tapestries. They put their heart and soul into making these pieces, as you will soon discover. Learn how to weave threads to create heirloom rugs, pieces that bring a unique and exotic look to any room. Indeed, Peruvian designs are derived from Midwestern, pre-Colombian, and Scandinavian influences. You’ll also learn how to use an oven to make tapestries. Head back to your hotel with a newfound appreciation for the craft of tapestry and rug-making.

For your final full day in Peru, you will begin exploring a wine cellar in the nearby town of Ica. Learn about the process of making piscos and wine. Enjoy tasting each of the beverages during the tour. You’ll eat lunch at a nearby restaurant. Next, head to the Oasis of Huacachina to explore the dunes via ATV.
