Itinerary

Your overseas adventure has begun as you travel to Mandalay, Myanmar. As your plane descends, take a look out your window to see lush forests and towering mountains. A local guide will be waiting to greet you at the airport and transfer you to your city hotel.

Take some time to unpack and relax; you have the afternoon free. Venture into the bustling city, splash into the hotel infinity pool, or take a quick cat nap. It’s up to you! In the evening, you’ll meet for dinner with your local guide to enjoy authentic Burmese cuisine. Take time to get to know your group and guides before tomorrow’s adventure.

Today you will view the rural landscape of Myanmar from the water. Climb onto the boat’s top deck for a scrumptious breakfast. Your first stop will be at a traditional Myanmar village of 1000 Buddhist inhabitants to experience their country lifestyle. Visit their local school before taking a lesson on traditional hatmaking. You’ll also tour their agricultural land. Following this, enjoy a delicious lunch back on the boat with sunbathing on the deck. Enjoy the wind in your hair and salty sea smell as you cruise.

Today, you will witness remarkable Buddhist monuments. Approximately 2500 stupas, temples, and monasteries are situated in Bagan’s World Heritage Site. Learn about the rise of the Kingdom of Pagan (aka Bagan) in the 11th century while viewing architectural wonders. Explore large boulders, endless steps, plains, and awe-inspiring views. You’ll have a picnic lunch before heading back to the city hotel.

Get an adventurous start to the day as you arrive at Mount Popa, an extinct volcano with stupas placed majestically on top. You’ll notice a shine at the base filled with figures of nats, which is dedicated to animal spirits. Climb the 777 steps to reach the volcanic cone and experience panoramic views of rural Myanmar. On your way down, you will visit a palm tree plantation to get a glimpse of agriculture and local work. Locals will demonstrate how they grow and tend to so many trees, and what purposes they serve. Enjoy lunch at the plantation before heading back to your hotel.

Today you will experience rural Myanmar as you visit pottery studios, neighborhood markets, and pagodas. You’ll jump on a boat to cross the Twante Canal to potters’ village. Wave to the fishermen and riverboats along the way. Try your hand at the local craft of pottery with the guidance of locals. Next, you’ll climb to the hilltop of Shwesandaw Pagoda for lunch at a local restaurant. Explore the area before heading back to your hotel.

Gear up for a full day of mountain trekking. Make your way to Shan valley’s mountain village to enjoy a tea break and start your hike. An agricultural guide will provide you with an educational talk as you walk across mountain rice fields, corn fields, a bamboo forest, jungle spring rivers, and a tea plantation before reaching another mountain village. As you trek, be sure to ask lots of questions about the agriculture of these areas. Enjoy a well-deserved lunch at the village before being transferred back to your hotel for free time.

It has been an incredibly adventurous and educational week in Myanmar, but the time has come for you to leave. Enjoy a final breakfast with your group and guides. Discuss your favorite memories of the trip. Next, it’s off the airport to catch your departure flight.

Myanmar has centuries-old stupas and is a land full of vibrant religion and traditional practices. With a landscape scattered with gilded pagodas and architecture, it’s a must-see country for history buffs and adventurers alike.
