Arrive in Chiang Mai– the land of lush, misty mountains and colorful tribes! You will begin your adventure with a visit to the Meo Hill Tribal Village where you will have the chance to indulge in local customs and life in a traditional Thai village. In the late afternoon, you will visit Chaing Mai’s sacred Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Temple, located in the mountains right outside of town. Stand in awe of this impressive site which dates back to 1386 and is said to encase a piece of bone from Buddha’s shoulder. The sacred site is surrounded by lush jungle, various hiking trails and waterfalls within the national park.

Nestled in the North of the country, the Golden Triangle connects Thailand, Laos and Myanmar along the Ruak and Mekong Rivers. You will spend the early afternoon exploring this site and learning about the history and importance of the region before heading to the Mae Sai Border Market. Stroll the market halls stocked with impressive handmade goods from the region or hop into Myanmar for an afternoon snack (500 THB boarder crossing fee). Later in the say you will stop at the Akha and yao Hill Tribe Village on the drive back to Chiang Mai.

Today’s the day you’ve been waiting for! Expect to be welcomed by gentle (but giant!) friends at the Elephant Nature Park! The Elephant Nature Park is an elephant rescue and rehabilitation center in Northern Thailand where you can volunteer and visit to help. The park has been involved in dozens of rescues which have created our thriving elephant herd providing a natural and sustainable life for their rescued friends! You will spend the day at this elephant paradise and have the chance to get up close and personal with the creatures who call it home!

Your time in Thailand was short, but certainly sweet! Bid farewell to the friends you’ve made along the way as you are transferred to the airport for departure.
