Once in Puerto Viejo Sarapiqui you will jump aboard our River Boat and will depart to The Rio Indio Lodge on the San Juan River in Southern Nicaragua. The boat ride is very scenic and you will see Reptiles and Mammals along the waterways. You will also be able to observe many species of birds that fly through the Lowland Rain Forest.

Arrive at the San Jose Airport where one of our English speaking chauffeurs will be waiting to pick you up and will take you to a local hotel. You are free to explore the city or just relax in your hotel.
Say goodbye to San Jose as you depart for Montverde Cloud Forest. The trip to Montverde Cloud Forest is very scenic and can take up to 3.5 hours. Once you arrive in Montverde Cloud Forest you will be checked into a local hotel where you will be served lunch followed by a guided hike through the National Park and Cloud Forest where you will have the chance to see
Quetzals, Bell Birds, Tanagers and many more bird species commonly found in the Cloud Forest. After a day of Birding you will return to the Hotel for Dinner and will have the evening to relax.
Today your birding tour guide will pick you up to begin a tour of the hanging bridges in the Costa Rican Cloud Forest where you will visit the Humming Bird Gallery you can observe up to 14 different species of humingbirds, including the Violet Sabrewing, one of the largest of its kind. The gallery also features a large display of photographs, depicting all 51 different types of hummingbirds that can be found in Costa Rica. Later in the day you will depart for a trip around Lake Arenal where you will locate numerous species of birds. You will be spending the night at The Volcano Lodge where dinner will be served and you will have the evening to relax.
After eating a delicious meal at the lodge, you will depart from another day packed full or birding but this time in the shadow of Mt. Arenal. In the cloud forest you will venture through winding paths and hanging bridges to visit Mid-level and Low Land forest species. This region is home to many birds and other flora and fauna species that you will be able to observe up close.
Today you will begin the day with a scenic drive to Puerto Viejo Sarapiqui which will take around 2.5 hrs. Once in Puerto Viejo Sarapiqui you will jump aboard our River Boat and will depart to The Rio Indio Lodge on the San Juan River in Southern Nicaragua. During this scenic boat ride you will have the chance to spot reptiles and other mammals along the waterways. You will also be able to observe many species of birds that fly through the Lowland Rain Forest. Our private 250 acres of reserve rainforest is surrounded by 850,000 acres of the Rio Indio Maiz World Heritage National Park which is home to many unique bird species.
Day 6 is packed full of eco-birding with local Rama Natives who will share their knowledge of the jungle, pointing out local flora and fauna and sharing some of their most treasured places with you. A sunset and evening boat tour is included.
Following breakfast you will depart with your guide as well as the local Rama natives to set off on foot to the home of the Red and Green Macaws. Here, you will also have the chance to view Tangers and other migrating species as Rio Indio Lodge sits in the heart of the Eastern Migration Route. A night hike on the jungle trails is included.
Say goodbye to the beautiful and secluded Rio Indio Lodge as you depart back to mainland Nicaragua for your international departure.
