After landing, rent a car at Piarco International Airport and spend your day getting to know Trinidad, the larger of the two islands that create the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago. Drive through the capital city of Port of Spain and catch a glimpse of the city’s impressive historic buildings before making a stop at the National Museum & Art Gallery. Inside, learn more about the country’s rich history and culture before heading to your hotel for a poolside dinner and a much-deserved night of rest and relaxation.
Use your rental car to spend the day exploring the many spectacular beaches of Trinidad. Journey from Maracas beach to Santa Cruz, taking frequent beachside breaks along the way. Stop at the North Coast and Maracas Lookouts for spectacular views and when hunger strikes, duck into a seaside shack or two for snacks and lunch. In the afternoon, head to Marianne Beach and take a short trek to the Three Pools, a series of gorgeous natural pools and waterfalls in the Marianne River. End your day on Ariapita Avenue, indulging in some of Trinidad’s world famous creole cuisine.
Rise early and board a small plane to the neighboring island of Tobago. A nature-lover’s paradise, Tobago will charm you with its spectacular scenery, lush rainforests and pristine, unending coastline. Once you arrive, rent a car right away and head straight to Store Bay, one of Tobago’s most popular and picturesque beaches. Rent a chair and umbrella and spend a few peaceful hours admiring the unspoiled horizon while sipping a tropical drink. At sunset, head back to the capital city of Scarborough for the night, stopping at the island’s many dramatic lookout points along the way.
After breakfast, take a scenic drive to Charlotteville, a delightful fishing village on the other side of the island. Still unknown to most tourists, Charlotteville’s secluded golden beaches will make you feel like you have paradise all to yourself! Head to Pirate’s Bay beach and take a midday siesta in a stunning, unspoiled cove known as the best beach in Tobago. Take a leisurely stroll along the waterfront and sample fresh fish in a quaint beachside cafe. Spend your final night relaxing in peaceful solitude, watching the sun set over the glassy Caribbean waters of Man O’War Bay.
Enjoy a light breakfast before returning your rental car and catching an early morning flight back to Trinidad to board your connecting flight home.
A trip to paradise!
Laden with vibrant Caribbean colors and stunning natural beauty, the dual-island nation of Trinidad & Tobago will whisk you far away from reality. Rent a car and lead your own road trip adventure, sailing over uncrowded island roads, hopping from one scenic beach to another and stopping for fresh Caribbean cuisine whenever inspired. Spend restful hours lying on palm tree-lined beaches and snorkeling in transparent Caribbean waters; take a nature trek to stunning waterfalls and make friends with the ultra-friendly folks that call Trinidad & Tobago home.
