Itinerary

Upon arrival to Vienna you will be transported to your hotel. Spend the day relaxing at one of the city’s many coffee houses or take an afternoon walking tour of Belvedere Palace and Gardens.

Dine by candlelight with your tour guide at a traditional Viennese restaurant, followed by coffee and cake. We’ll jump right into the culture as we practice our greetings, thank you’s, and basic cultural customs.

Begin with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, followed by a walking tour. Stop at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, a stunning example of 12th century Gothic structure. Continue through the Old Town, and our guide will point out which sections were rebuilt after World War II. Stop at Naschmarkt for lunch and another language lesson. Today we’ll practice ordering food in German.

Spend the afternoon learning about the Hofburgs, exploring the old palace complex and museums. Enjoy a performance at the Spanish Riding School, with the gorgeous Lippizaner horses high-stepping just as they did when the school was established in 1572. Continue with a tour of the Mozarthaus, Mozart’s home for three years. Finish today’s tours with a visit to the Vienna State Opera House, followed by a brief opera performance.

Dress up for dinner and a night out at a Viennese musical performance.

Today we’ll take our day trip to beautiful Salzburg! Enjoy stunning drive to Salzburg with stops by Lake Mondsee and the Austrian Alps. Upon arrival in Salzburg, take a guided walking tour of the gardens at Mirabell Palace. Visit the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Have lunch in Old Town.

This afternoon, we’ll bike around the Austrian countryside to more Sound of Music movie location highlights, followed by a stop at the old Augustiner Monk’s Brewery for a refreshing drink.

Enjoy dinner at the Saint Peter’s Keller, one of the oldest restaurants in Europe, and listen to a Mozart concert. Tonight we’ll head back to the hotel in Vienna.

Today, you have options. If you choose a guided tour, join the tour guide on a visit to Schonbrunn Palace. Highlights here include the Imperial Carriage Museum, the Orangery, the Gloriette, and the zoo. Stop by the Strudel show for a demonstration and a taste of this delicious local dessert.

If you’d rather have a day to yourself, tour the Sigmund Freud Museum, ride the Ferris Wheel at Prater Park, have lunch up the Danube Tower, or just relax at a coffee house.

Your farewell dinner will take place at a traditional Viennese restaurant, accompanied by live music. Spend another night in this magical city, or head for the airport for your international flight home.
