Welcome to Antananarivo, the lively capital city of Madagascar! Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and head to the city center for an authentic Malagasy meal. After lunch, take private transport to the Royal Hill of Ambohimanga, a royal city and burial site in addition to an ensemble of sacred places. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and place of worship, Ambohimanga is associated with strong feelings of national identity and has maintained its spiritual and sacred character for the past 500 years.
After, enjoy dinner in the capital and watch the sunset over the African island’s cityscape.
Rise in the morning and enjoy breakfast served at the hotel. After a leisurely morning, take a private transport to the perfect symbiosis of a zoo and botanical garden, the Botanical and Zoological Garden of Tsimbazaza.
Once a sacred place, Tsimbazaza means “where children are forbidden,” although the no child rule no longer applies. The garden is full of lush vegetation situated on the edge of a lake, naturally attracting hundreds of birds that dwell in the midst of bamboo trees in the arboretum. There is also a paleontological and ethnographic museum there complete with skeletons of an elephant bird, and the bones and fossils of dinosaurs and other extinct animals.
In the center of the gardens is a small restaurant. Enjoy a late lunch or early dinner here before heading back to the hotel.
Prior to beginning your departure home, enjoy one last group breakfast and visit Analakely Market (depending on your departure times). Say your goodbyes and head to the airport for departures and onward journeys.

Tonga soa eto Madagasikara!
Madagascar — home of the lemur — is a huge island nation off the southeast coast of Africa. It’s not only home to lemurs, but to thousands of animal species found nowhere else on the planet. The country also features lush rainforests, beaches and coral reefs. Near the busy capital, Antananarivo, is Ambohimanga, a hillside complex of royal palaces and burial grounds. There’s also the Botanical and Zoological Garden of Tsimbazaza where travelers can get acquainted with the natural flora and fauna of the area.
