Itinerary

San Sebastián is located in the Basque Country of northern Spain, and is famous for its greenery, pristine beaches, and most importantly: Food. San Sebastián is world famous for food, and has one of the highest number of Michelin stars per square meter.

Basque style tapas, also known as pinxtos, are small bites of freshly baked bread topped with just about anything. Today you will learn about the unique techniques and flavors incorporated into these recipes in an exclusive tapa tour.

Today will be a full indulgence of all the senses. Wake to the smell of fresh espresso and have a leisurely breakfast of oven-warm bread topped with tomato and fine Spanish olive oil.

After breakfast, head up Mount Igueldo, an area not far from old town. Hike up the hill or hop on the antique funicular that was first opened in 1912. At the top, enjoy the views and tour the Torréon tower that dates back to the 16th century.

After our hike, we’ll head down to the beach to catch a ferry to Santa Clara Island, a small island in the bay that offers a secluded beach with incredible views of the water and city. Enjoy a picnic on the beach as you soak in the sun and enjoy the relaxed Spanish lifestyle.

Tonight we will dine along the beach, where you will be able to sample the finest and freshest seafood captured right from the Bay of Biscay. After dinner, relax while watching the sunset or jump in on a game of fútbol with the locals.

When in France, do as the French do. Today you will experience what it is like to live as a local in this foodie famous city.

Begin your day at the Marche Victor Hugo, a favorite local spot to find the best wine, cheese, bread, pastries and seafood. Get a private tour from the shop owners to learn about where they source their goods and about the history of their business.

Later, tour the Saint-Sernin Basilica, the heart of the city. Enjoy the masonry and architecture of this UNESCO romanesque basilica, which began its construction in the 1100s.

This afternoon, try your hand in creating delightfully delicate macaroons. Learn from a professional French baker the secrets behind making the perfect French macaron. Bring home a set of your creations as the perfect souvenir!

Take a quick train ride to Bordeaux, a small yet bustling city along the Garonne River. Today you will attend a meat and cheese pairing course, where you will learn about the process behind creating the fabulous and unique flavors of a variety of meats and cheeses. Learn about how the pros thoughtfully pair meats, cheeses, wines, breads and other delicacies to highlight the flavors of each.

This afternoon, take a bike tour of the city, where you will encounter seemingly infinite cathedrals, charming alleys and pastry shops on just about every corner of the city.

For dinner, head to Bordeaux’s finest creperie where you just may have the best meal of your life. Whether you choose sweet or savory (or both!), these crepes won’t disappoint.

Welcome to the last stop of your food tour! Are you full yet? We didn’t think so.

Today you will participate in an authentic Italian cooking class, where you will learn the secrets to making fabulous Italian cuisine from a seasoned chef. In this class, learn to cook a 5-course meal from start to finish. Create fresh pasta, toss pizza like a pro and whip up a chocolate soufflé…and enjoy!

In the afternoon, enjoy some much needed time to relax on one of Sicily’s gorgeous beaches. Soak in some sun as you sprawl out on clean, white sand and splash in the vibrantly blue water.

Before departing for your evening flight, check out the local fish market. Take in the sights, sounds and the many smells of the pescheria as the day’s freshest catch is hawked about. Here you will encounter some of the sea’s oddest, and tastiest creatures. You will have the opportunity to explore the center of the town, set adjacent to the market.

As a final hurrah to Italy, embark on a street food tour. You’ll be able to taste both the famous classic dishes, as well as local favorites. End this amazing trip with nothing other than some of the finest Italian gelato before beginning your departure home and onward journey.
