Itinerary

Your transportation will pick you up and deliver you to your downtown hotel. Spend the afternoon walking the pier – visit Fisherman’s Wharf and enjoy an oceanside dinner at one of California’s coastal cuisine restaurants.

Enjoy a fresh, hot-out-of-the-oven breakfast at one of the stalls on Fisherman’s Wharf with spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Your adventure begins with a private, behind the scenes tour of the California Academy of Sciences. Learn how the Academy is researching the rainforest and how it affects our global food supply. Inside your tour, you’ll get an up close view of the Academy’s 4-story high rainforest. After, wander the museum and enjoy a show at the Morrison Planetarium.

The hottest ticket in San Francisco is the Alcatraz Prison. Take the ferry over to Alcatraz Island and tour the prison with a self-guided audio tour. Visit a cell block and learn about the prison’s infamous guests like Al Capone and Machine Gun Kelly.

In the evening, take a cable car down to Pier 39 for some shopping, dinner and great people watching.

Your tour guide will pick you up after breakfast and take you on a journey through the rolling hills and pastures of the Northern California wine country. Tour and taste wine and olive oil from several different wineries in Napa and Sonoma.

Enjoy a farm lunch in the vineyard with a selected wine pairing, and bask in the warm California sun.

Visit a “dry farm” winery where they use no irrigation in the vineyard resulting in the saving of tens of thousands of gallons of water annually. Here, you will walk the vineyard with a wine agricultural expert who will explain the dry farm method, how it enhances the flavor of the grapes and why it is important in California.

Watch the beautiful scenery fly by (or take a well deserved nap) as your guide delivers you back to you hotel.

Your expert guide will collect you at your hotel for the next leg of your journey — a 3-day private drive down the California Coast.

Bring your camera, as your guide knows all the great breathtaking vistas and you will have a chance to stop frequently.

In Santa Cruz, walk the boardwalk or stroll along the beautiful beach. You can enjoy lunch on the beach or an outdoor cafe.

When you arrive in Monterey, check into your beachfront hotel which is walking distance to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

After settling in, head to the Monterey Bay Aquarium for a unique sea creature adventure. This aquarium is home to a wide array of unusual coastal sea creatures. Meet up with your aquarium guild for a tour focusing on sustainable fisheries and aquaculture. You will explore how the aquarium works with local and global environmental organizations with a goal of achieving sustainability in the world’s oceans.

This evening, explore the area John Steinbeck made famous with his novel Cannery Row. Enjoy some of the areas spectacular seafood and quaint local shops.

Grab your coffee, a muffin and a towel for breakfast on the beach, where the California sunshine warms you and the waves have a calming, rhythmic beat.

Today your journey will start with a drive down the scenic 17-Mile Drive from Pacific Grove to Pebble Beach. The stunning coastline and mansions conjure up dreams of living-large. Visit the Pebble Beach Golf Links for amazing views from the 18th green, just outside the magnificent, public clubhouse.

Lunch is a stop at a local, organic farm where you can delight on fresh picked fruit, handmade cheese, and other local delicacies.

Piedras Blancas Rookery, home to California’s elephant seals, is your next stop. Your guide will expound on the extraordinary life of the northern elephant seal. You will view the rookery and explore their habitat on land and at sea. Over 17,000 elephant seals migrate to the Piedras Blancas Rookery every year.

Continue on to Hearst Castle, where your guided tour of this National and California Historical Landmark estate will leave you in wonder. The estate was designed for newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst, it has 58 bedrooms, 60 bathrooms and 41 fireplaces.

End your day in the village of Cambria where you can take a walk along the beautiful beach, relax, and enjoy a quiet dinner.

This spectacular seaside city has so much to offer: great food, gorgeous beaches, historical buildings, and year round sunshine. You may want to move here!

Your guided tour today is at a local farm that specializes in avocados. The agriculture around Santa Barbara encompasses wine, of course, and many crops like broccoli, avocados and berries. Your guide will discuss how farming is a delicate balance with the dwindling water supply. Dine alfresco on a traditional farm lunch paired with a local wine.

Leaving this glorious coastal vacation will be difficult. After breakfast, and an early morning walk on the pier, your driver will take you to Santa Barbara Airport for your journey home.
